Mononoke

The term ‘mononoke’ (モノノ怪) could be understood as the ghost of deceased who did not rest in peace. Their resentment lingers in the human world and bring misfortune to the alive. To destroy mononoke, three conditions should be sufficed in order to summon the exorcist sword: the shape (katachi, 形), the truth (makoto, 真), and the reason (kotowari, 理) - how it looks like, what happened, and why. Therefore, the searching of these three conditions drives the the stories, threads up its non-lineal narrative and flavour it with a taste of suspense.
